Newry man convicted of Benefit Fraud

A man was convicted at Armagh Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

He was fined £400 and ordered to pay witness costs of £250 and £61 court costs for failure to declare capital while claiming Income support and Jobseekers Allowance totalling £5,503.

The man is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 84 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
