Two convicted of Benefit Fraud at Belfast Court
Tuesday, 9 March 2010Two people were convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
One was given three months imprisonment suspended for two years for wrongful encashment of Income Support totalling £153.
The other was fined £300 and ordered to pay court costs of £16 for failure to declare employment while claiming Housing Benefit totalling £3,200.
Both are also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 91 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
