Newry man convicted of Benefit Fraud

A man was convicted at Newry Crown Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

The man was given a six month sentence suspended for 12 months for failure to declare capital while claiming Income Support totalling £28,779.

He has repaid the Social Security Agency all money wrongfully obtained.

This brings to 92 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
