16 May 2008 - Armagh woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Armagh Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

Mary McKeown (42), claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £3,003 while failing to declare she was living with her partner. She was fined £250 and ordered to pay court costs of £58.

She will also have to repay the money she wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 157 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
