A woman was convicted at Strabane Magistrates’ Court on 19 May 2008 for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
Regina Connolly (53) of McGirr Park, Strabane, had claimed Income Support, Housing Benefit and Carer’s Allowance to the value of £43,696 while failing to disclose she was working. She was given an 18 month prison sentence suspended for two years and will have also have to repay the money she wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 167 the number of successful prosecutions in 2008.
