13 May 2009 - Belfast man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Stephen Pollins (20) of Wauchope Court, Belfast was fined £250 and ordered to pay £19 court costs for duplicate encashment of Jobseekers Allowance totalling £82.

He is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 159 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
