18 May 2009 - Armagh man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Armagh Magistrates’ Court for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

William Tennyson (42) of Abbey Street, Armagh, claimed Incapacity Benefit totalling £3,639 while failing to declare he was employed. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £31court costs.

He is required by the Social Security Agency to repay the money he wrongfully obtained.

This brings to 160 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
