27 November 2007 - Antrim man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court today for claiming money he was not entitled to.

Henry Mooney (30), of Gortgole Road, Portglenone, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £9,971 while working full time. He was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay court costs of £70.

He will also have to repay the money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 372 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
