Two people were convicted at Armagh Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.
Christopher Nugent (42) of Hillside Terrace, Armagh claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £6,804.60 while failing to declare capital. He was fined £500 and ordered to pay court costs of £112.
Ferghal McConnell (51) of St Mary’s Terrace, Armagh claimed Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £9,796.69 while failing to declare capital. He was fined £500 and ordered to pay court costs of £151.
Both are also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 460 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
