27 November 2008 - Ritchie visits supported housing scheme in North Belfast

Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie MLA paid tribute to the work of Rosemount House, a hostel for recovering alcoholics, on Belfast’s Antrim Road.

During a visit to the hostel, the Minister learned about the programmes in place to help residents move back into independent living.

Following a tour of the building Minister Ritchie said: “Housing and the support services provided by Rosemount House are second to none. The ‘New Housing Agenda’ is all about delivering opportunity and choice for all members of society, including the residents who live here. I am impressed by what I have seen here today and the vital help provided to vulnerable members of society by Rosemount House. I want to acknowledge the commitment and dedication of everyone involved in providing a warm, friendly and supported environment that will facilitate residents back into mainstream living.”

Rosemount House opened in December 2006 and is a modern, energy efficient accommodation providing 20 en suite rooms, with associated communal and dining facilities.
