26 November 2009 - Lisburn woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

She failed to declare employment while claiming Income Support totalling £5,244. She was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £16 court costs.

She is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 402 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
