01 October 2007 - Portadown woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on 26 September for working while in receipt of benefit.

Jacqueline Hill (43) of Ridgeway Park South, Portadown, had claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £3,717 while working. She was fined £300.00 and ordered to pay court costs of £52.00. She will also have to repay the money she fraudulently claimed to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 280 the number of convictions secured so far this year by the Social Security Agency in its campaign against benefit fraud.
