Anyone who normally receives their benefit payment directly in to their bank account or post office card account will be unaffected and will continue to receive their payment as normal. Over 96% of Agency customers already receive their payment by this means.
Customers who receive their benefit payment by cheques through the post and would normally expect to receive their next payment on or after Friday 5 October 2007 should arrange to collect their payment direct from their nearest Post Office. This may not necessarily be the Post Office they normally use. Anyone who is unsure of their nearest Post Office should telephone their benefit paying Branch for advice.
Customers must ensure that they bring proof of identity with them when collecting their cheque from the Post Office. The proof of identity that customers use when cashing their cheques can be used when collecting it.
The Agency will issue further advice should there be any change to these arrangements.
