04 October 2007 - Woman jailed for £75,000 benefit fraud

Belfast Crown Court today imposed a nine-month jail sentence on a woman who had fraudulenty claimed benefits over a ten-year period.

Olive White (53), of Ballyearl Terrace, New Mossley, Newtownabbey, had claimed £75,205 in Income Support and Housing Benefit without declaring that she was working.

She is also required to repay the money she dishonestly obtained to the Social Security Agency. This is the 292nd successful prosecution for benefit fraud so far this year.
