09 October 2007 - Belfast man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was today convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast Magistrates’ Court.

Patrick Murphy (32), of Broomhill Park, was given a conditional discharge for 12 months for claiming Income Support totalling £5,477 while failing to declare he had capital.

He also has to repay the money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency. This brings to 305 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
