A woman was convicted at Belfast Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
Leanne Thompson (29), of Hatton Drive, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £44,752 while failing to declare she had capital.
She was given a one year prison sentence suspended for two years. She will also have to repay the money she wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
This brings to 306 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
