19 October 2007 - Man convicted of benefit fraud at Enniskillen court

A man was convicted at Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court today for claiming money he was not entitled to.

James McGrath (42), of Scarden Road, Garvary, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £30,811 while failing to declare he had capital. He was given a six month prison sentence suspended for eighteen months.

He also has to repay the money he wrongfully claimed to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 316 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
