29 October 2007 - Strabane woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted of benefit fraud at Strabane Magistrates’ Court on Friday October 26.

Brigid Stokes (33), of Patterson Park was fined £205 on one charge and given a conditional discharge on a second charge for duplicate encashment of Social Fund cheques to a value of £656.

She also has to repay the money she wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency. This brings the total number of successful prosecutions to 330 this year.
