30 October 2007 - Enniskillen man given community service for benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Desmond Kerr (48) of College Gardens, Enniskillen, had claimed Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support and Rates allowance totalling £2,935 while failing to disclose his savings. He was given 180 hours community service and will have to repay the money he received to the Social Security Agency (SSA).

This brings to 331 the number of convictions secured so far this year by the SSA in its campaign against benefit fraud.
