14 September 2007 - Two Omagh men convicted of benefit fraud

Two men were sentenced on benefit fraud charges at Omagh Magistrates’ Court today.

Edward Harper (36), of Ardfort Road, had failed to disclose his savings while claiming Jobseekers Allowance totalling £1,946.40. He was fined £600.00.

Nicholas Given (20), of Festival Park, was fined £150.00 for duplicate encashment of Income Support totalling of £362.36.

Both men are required by the Social Security Agency to repay the money they wrongfully obtained.

This brings to 267 the number of convictions secured so far this year by the Social Security Agency in its campaign against benefit fraud.
