20 September 2007 - Holywood woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Bangor Magistrates’ Court yesterday for working while in receipt of benefit.

Lynda McMaster (50) of The Green, Holywood, had claimed Income Support totalling £4,328 while working. She was given a conditional discharge for twelve months and ordered to pay court costs. She will also have to repay the money she fraudulently claimed to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 273 the number of convictions secured so far this year by the Social Security Agency in its campaign against benefit fraud.
