25 September 2007 - Belfast court convicts woman for benefit fraud

A woman was sentenced at Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for claiming money she was not entitled to.

Georgina Blair (34), of Ards Drive, Newtownabbey, was given a conditional discharge for one year for duplicate encashment of Income Support totalling £359.

She will also have to repay the money she received to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 279 the number of convictions secured so far this year by the Social Security Agency in its campaign against benefit fraud.
