Ritchie holding ninth public meeting on shared future
Thursday, 17 September 2009Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie will hold her ninth public meeting in Downpatrick tonight, regarding building a shared future for Northern Ireland.
Margaret Ritchie said: “There is a lot of emphasis placed on strategies for building a shared future and rightly so. I welcome the fact that this issue is rising up the political agenda and I welcome all contributions to the debate. A fundamental requirement though is to speak to people throughout the length and breadth of Northern Ireland to get their views. Anything we produce in government should have a firm foundation in the community to make it workable.
“That is why I am undertaking a number of public meetings throughout Northern Ireland. Once complete, I will bring my proposals to the Executive table, especially with regard to integrating housing, sharing the space in our towns and cities and community development including funding.”
