Newtownabbey man convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast Court

A Newtownabbey man was convicted at Belfast Magistrates' Court yesterday for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

The man failed to declare employment while claiming Income Support totalling £4,820. He was given 100 hours community service and ordered to pay £34 court costs.

He is also required to repay the money he wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 320 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
