14 November 2008 - Belfast man convicted of benefit fraud

A man was convicted at Belfast Crown Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Thomas Moore Tweed (51) of Mossbrook Road, Carryduff was given a 15 month sentence, suspended for three years, for claiming Income Support totalling £25,015 while failing to declare he was working full time.

He is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 446 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
