The proposal will involve the replacement/upgrade of current street lighting and the reconstruction of the existing footways in Dunclug Park and Dunclug Gardens which together with Millfield and Dunvale make up Dunclug Estate. A similar scheme was carried out in Millfield and Dunvale in 2007 and is part of the overall DSD renewal strategy for the estate. This project will consist of 18,000 square metres of surface area to be improved and the implementation of an integrated lighting initiative.
The minister said, “When I visited Dunclug, local people told me that they wanted to see improvements around the estate to address a range of physical and social problems in the area. This major environmental improvement scheme will do much to improve the physical condition of the estate and provide a more pleasant, safer amenity around the estate. I hope to be in a position to follow this up soon with more good news for the residents of Dunclug.”
This work will be undertaken on the department’s behalf by DRD Roads Service Northern Division.
