14 November 2008 - Omagh woman convicted of benefit fraud

A woman was convicted at Omagh Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

Georgina Gilmour (56) of Festival Park, Omagh claimed Housing Benefit totalling £5,315 while failing to declare capital. She was given a one year conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £34.

She is also required to repay the money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

This brings to 447 the total number of successful prosecutions this year.
