14 November 2008 - Ritchie expresses concern at increasing actions for repossessions

Social Development Minister, Margaret Ritchie MLA, today expressed concern at the sharp increase in actions for repossessions.

"Margaret Ritchie said: These worrying statistics are further evidence of the impact the global credit crunch is having on the ordinary person. I welcome the positive steps being taken by the courts and others which are most helpful. The issues being flagged up by the Court Service are a timely warning for the Executive. As a Government we must develop a unified cross departmental strategy for helping those most in need.”
