Speaking following a lunch hosted by the RUAS President, Dr Paisley said: “I am pleased that the Earl of Wessex has been able to take some time out of his busy schedule to visit the show today to see first hand the role that the agricultural industry plays in Northern Ireland.
“The Balmoral show is one of Northern Ireland’s premier annual events, its sheer size highlights just how important the local agricultural industry is to our economy.
“Throughout my term as First Minister I have said many times that the Executive is committed to achieving the goal of a prosperous Northern Ireland. The Agricultural industry remains a vitally important element in that objective.”
Dr Paisley also visited the Ulster Farmers' Union stand where he met UFU President Graham Furey and Chief Executive Clarke Black.
Dr Paisley said: “I was particularly glad to have met with the UFU today and to thank them personally for their strong leadership over the course of what at times has been a difficult year.”
