Robinson and McGuinness meet with Spanish Ambassador

First Minister Rt Hon Peter D Robinson, MLA, and deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, MP, MLA, met today with Spanish Ambassador Mr Carles Casajuana who is on a one day familiarisation visit to Belfast.

During the course of his visit Mr Casajuana was briefed in relation to ongoing political developments here and the First Minister and deputy First Minister also took the opportunity to welcome the recently announced ceasefire by Basque separatist group ETA.

Ministers expressed the hope that a solution could be found to the conflict in the Basque region based on exclusively peaceful and democratic means.

During the course of his visit His Excellency Mr Casajuana also met with MLAs and the Speaker of the NI Assembly Mr William Hay as well as undertaking a tour of the city.
