Speaking at a special reception in Parliament Buildings the Ministers expressed their appreciation for the hard work carried out at various interface points throughout Belfast.
Mr Donaldson said: “Many of the people here this evening have been at the forefront of building trust between not only our traditional communities but with new communities as well. Their dedicated work is helping to challenge sectarianism and racism on the ground.
“The Executive, through its Programme for Government, is determined to ensure that the efforts of interface workers are recognised, resourced and supported. Their work has shown that it is possible to create relationships, build trust and reduce tensions.”
Mr Kelly said: “It is imperative that government recognizes the work being undertaken on our streets day in day out which is making a difference to people's lives and their life chances. Their work is very often behind the scenes and away from the glare of publicity.
“The leadership they provide to their communities and the resilience they display in the face of very difficult situations is essential in repairing fractured relationships and building new ones.”
