That was the message from Junior Minister Gerry Kelly as he opened a shared and better future an event hosted by the Rainbow Project at Parliament Buildings.
The event was themed around the key question of ‘Should all section 75 categories be included in the Cohesion, Sharing and Integration Strategy for Northern Ireland?’
Speaking at the event Mr Kelly said: “The Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister is committed to the principle of equality for all citizens. Differences define our individuality and enable us to make a unique contribution to society a diverse population creates a rich culture.
“We are close to finalising the detail of the Programme for Cohesion, Sharing and Integration. The programme will be a significant step on the way to achieving our goal of a peaceful, fair and prosperous society in Northern Ireland, with respect for the rule of law where everyone can enjoy a better quality of life”
Mr Kelly concluded by commending the Projects work: “The Rainbow Project’s work in promoting the rights of citizens is invaluable. The Office of the First and deputy First Minister is committed to ensuring maximum protection for all from hate crime and discrimination.”
