The meetings were a fitting end to what has been a highly successful US trip which has seen both Ministers delivering the message that Northern Ireland is open for business to the highest levels in the American business world.
Speaking following today’s two key meetings Dr Paisley said: “Our trips to New York and Washington have been a great success. We have met many highly influential business people who can help us regenerate our local economy as well as placing Northern Ireland on the world-wide stage for all the right reasons.
“I am delighted that both President Bush and New York Senator Hillary Clinton have leant their support to our economic conference to be held in May. The response from business here has already been phenomenal.”
Martin McGuinness said: “We have delivered our message of economic regeneration, political stability and peace to the City Hall in New York, to Congress, the Senate, the boardroom of corporate America, to the Oval Office and have seen it emblazed seven-stories high in Times Square in New York.
“Our trip to the US has laid the foundations for a successful economic conference next Spring and now we must go home to start building on those foundations to ensure we deliver the hugely important element of our Programme for Government – a vibrant, prosperous economy.”
