Voluntary and Community Sector “An inspiration” – Junior Minister Kelly
Thursday, 7 February 2008Junior Minister Gerry Kelly paid tribute to the enthusiasm and commitment of voluntary and community organisations at the NICVA Link Awards in Belfast this evening (Thursday).
The Link Awards, at the Ramada Hotel, recognise business support for charities and voluntary and community organisations here.
Gerry Kelly told the audience: “It is a true testament to your perseverance, endeavour and sheer commitment to making a positive change in your communities that we are here to applaud and acknowledge your input this evening.
“We should never underestimate what can be achieved by ordinary people who do extraordinary work.
“People who devote their time, their effort and their energy for the benefit of others and it is fitting that their contribution is recognised.”
The Minister added: “Tonight’s award winners have shown that they have the potential and talents to achieve great things for themselves and for the communities in which they live.
“It is now our responsibility to follow their example and embrace every opportunity to create the better future we all desire.”
