Sperrin View Cottages are five-star accredited and have been developed in a £1million investment backed by Invest NI. The cottages are targeted at lucrative niche tourism markets, particularly cultural, activity and business visitors.
Speaking as he performed the official opening of the cottages, the deputy First Minister said: “Our tourism industry is currently experiencing steady growth and the level of interest from abroad is higher than ever. The Mallaghan family can exploit the opportunities arising from this with these excellent cottages, which have been developed in conjunction with Invest NI. The business will also help to generate wider economic benefits for the local area.
“Such rural locations offer visitors an opportunity to enjoy our spectacular scenery, with activities such as angling, cycling, horse riding, golfing and walking, catering for a wide range of visitors. There is also a rich cultural heritage which is of great interest to the increasing number of visitors who wish to explore their ancestry.”
The Minister added: “The Mallaghans are to be congratulated for making this investment in tourism infrastructure and I wish them every success going forward.”
Sperrin View is owned and run by the Mallaghan family who, although they are already established local entrepreneurs, are entering the tourism industry for the first time.
