Welcoming the group to Parliament Buildings Mr Kelly said the meeting provided an opportunity to share experiences and to outline the work underway by the Executive to create a peaceful and prosperous future.
“This visit highlights the massive interest being expressed by people and governments, from all over the world, to hear our story and learn from our experiences of conflict resolution.
“We clearly have a huge contribution to play in helping other countries move forward in their desire to secure peace and a better future for their people. Whilst you cannot simply apply our experiences to other situations there is much to be learnt from the process and today’s visit by Cypriot officials provides a great opportunity to do just that,” said Mr Kelly.
The delegation are all members of the Cypriot Reconstruction and Resettlement Council. The Council was established by the Republic of Cyprus government to research and prepare a long term programme aimed at facilitating the reunification of the island.
As well as discussing the workings of the institutions the Minister also outlined the Executive’s current priorities.
