The minister told the event that: “The work that has been undertaken as part of this initiative is indicative of the changing times in which we live.
“Over the last 12 months the political changes which have taken place have meant that we, as a society, are in a position to look forward with greater confidence and hope than ever before.
“But, it is for you the young people to take us forward to better times. You are our hope and the work that has gone on as part of the Learning Together Initiative is reflective of the positive attitudes that will serve us well as we move forward.”
Education Minister Caitríona Ruane also attended the event. The Department of Education had provided £60,000 funding for a joint schools and youth programme as part of Ballymena Learning Together.
