The Executive has condemned this morning’s attack on an off-duty police officer.
Ministers discussed the incident at today’s Executive meeting and said the cowardly attack by people who represented no one stood in stark contrast to how devolved government was moving society here forward.
In a statement following the meeting the Executive said: “Six months ago today we took power back into the hands of local people. We will not allow those who have nothing to offer except a return to conflict to deflect us from delivering a peaceful, prosperous and fair society. Anyone with any information about this disgraceful attack should give it to the police. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured officer and his family at this time.”
