29 November 2007 - Junior Ministers meet with all party group on children and young people

Junior Ministers Ian Paisley Jnr and Gerry Kelly met with representatives of the Assembly’s All Party Group on Children and Young People today.

The Ministers, who have joint responsibility for children and young people’s issues, described the meeting as “useful.”

Gerry Kelly said: “As champions for children and young people we are fully committed to securing and prioritising the rights of our children and young people.

“We want to deliver services that meet their needs and so meeting with the All Party Group has been very beneficial. This is part of an ongoing engagement with statutory and voluntary bodies as well as Assembly Committees that will be involved in the process”

Ian Paisley jnr said: “We have agreed to hold regular meetings with the group and we intend to bring a paper to the Executive very quickly  on our intention to re-establish the Ministerial sub-committee on children and young people.”
