The Department for Communities Financial Investigation Unit obtained a Confiscation Order to the value of £13,635 against Michael Begley (57) of Duncrun Road, Limavady at Antrim Crown Court today.
On the 18 January 2017 the defendant appeared at Limavady Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to four charges of dishonesty. During his claim to benefits he failed to declare that he held capital in excess of the statutory limits. Failure to report his true circumstances resulted in an overpayment of Jobseeker’s Allowance.
Mr Begley has until 19 August 2017 to satisfy the order or he must serve a nine month custodial sentence.
