Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard has met with representatives of the Colin Town Centre Stakeholder Group to discuss the progress of Belfast Rapid Transit and the importance of Colin Town Centre to the success of the project.
Belfast Rapid Transit (BRT) is an Executive Flagship investment in sustainable transport which will connect West and East Belfast and Titanic Quarter via Belfast city centre and is due for completion in September 2018.
Following a meeting with the group, Minister Chris Hazzard said:
“Increasing the use of public transport and active travel is a fundamental element of the Programme for Government.
“Belfast Rapid Transit will deliver high quality public transport services. It will improve access to jobs, hospitals, shops, schools, colleges and places of entertainment. Progress is on schedule and with planning permission for the Colin Town Centre Transport and Community Hub and Civic Square granted, my Department is now currently working on the business case for the transport and community hub building.”
BRT will make a significant contribution to the accessibility and connectivity of the Colin Town Centre and the Department is central to enabling the commencement of the development.
