£135,000 road improvement scheme on Shrigley Road, Killyleagh

A £135,000 road improvement scheme on the B7 Shrigley Road, Killyleagh started on Monday 5 March 2018.

Lane closure during resurfacing work

The scheme, which will involve drainage works and the resurfacing of a 500m stretch of the B7 Shrigley Road, Killyleagh from the speed limit signs at Killyleagh Primary School to the front of Killyleagh Castle, will deliver significant improvements to both the structural integrity and surface of the road.  The work is expected to take four weeks to complete.

To facilitate the works the Shrigley Road will be closed from its junction with Crossgar Road to its junction with Frederick Street between 09:00hrs and 16:30hrs daily from Monday 5 March 2018 to Friday 16 March 2018. The road will remain open evenings and weekends.

The diversion route will be signed with traffic being diverted via High Street, Catherine Street / Downpatrick Road / Killyleagh Road / Old Belfast Road / New Bridge Street, Belfast Road / Downpatrick Road / Downpatrick Street, Killyleagh Street / Killyleagh Road / Ballytrim Road / Crossgar Road / Shrigley Road.

The Department has programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise any inconvenience, however, drivers should expect some delays and are advised to leave additional time when travelling in the area.

The dates and duration of the works will be dependent on the progress of the scheme and on favourable weather conditions.
