The Programme for Government 2011-15 commits the Northern Ireland (NI) Executive to ‘publish and implement a Childcare Strategy with key actions to provide integrated and affordable childcare’.

This research represents the first ever study of childminding practice in Northern Ireland which looks in detail at issues such as quality in childminding practice and the benefits and challenges of vertical grouping (ie children of different ages being cared for together).
