The Order replaced the Shops Act (NI) 1946 on 4 December 1997.  It brought the Northern Ireland shops law broadly into line with the corresponding law in England and Wales, the Sunday Trading Act 1994.

This leaflet provides information on some aspects of the law on bingo in Northern Ireland.  It is not an authoritative nor a complete statement of the law and is only intended to provide a brief overview and highlight some of the major legal requirements and conditions.

The Department for Infrastructure has made a Statutory Rule entitled The Waiting Restrictions (Saintfield) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016 (S.R. 2016 No. 435) which will come into operation on 16 January 2017.

The Department for Infrastructure has made a Statutory Rule entitled The Parking and Waiting Restrictions (Belfast) (Amendment No. 5) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016 (S.R. 2016 No. 430) which will come into operation on 3 January 2017.

The Department for Infrastructure has made a Statutory Rule entitled The Roads (Speed Limit) (No. 4) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016 (S.R. 2016 No. 429) which will come into operation on 3 January 2017.

The Department for Infrastructure has made a Statutory Rule entitled The Waiting Restrictions (Ballynure) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016, (S.R. 2016 No. 428), which comes into operation on 3 January 2017.
