This research represents the first ever study of childminding practice in Northern Ireland which looks in detail at issues such as quality in childminding practice and the benefits and challenges of vertical grouping (ie children of different ages being cared for together).
'Childcare' for the purposes of this policy framework, is the safe supervision of children, aged 0-14, in an environment that assists and enriches their development, education and life opportunities and enjoyment.
