You may be aware that EU Regulation 2017/852 on Mercury has been adopted by Member States and it applies to mercury, mercury compounds and mercury-added products. This filled gaps in previous legislation and enabled ratification of the Minamata Convention.

I previously wrote to you on 6 April this year to highlight the implications for the dental profession of the above legislation. Despite the ongoing BREXIT negotiations, the UK must comply with this EU Regulation.

The Department of the Environment launched a ‘Call for Evidence’ to help inform the future approach to Permitted Development Rights for Mineral Exploration on 14 March 2016.  The deadline for responses was 13 May 2016.
